– About Me –
Aloha! My name is Aoi, the owner and maker of Pualani Soap Hawaii. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii with my my husband, Lance and our dog, Luna. I am originally from Japan, moved to Hawaii when I was 20. Since I was little, I always loved painting, making and creating something for my family and friends. Now I enjoy making natural soap and skincare products that are good for people, pets, and environment.
– How I got into soap making –
People often ask me why I make natural soap. I have always loved creating something that is good for myself, family, and friends. When my husband and I got engaged, I started wondering about what would be the perfect wedding favors that I could put my heart and soul to create for the guests. I picked up one of the soap making book and made soap for over 100 guests, packaged in baby blue Washi paper for our wedding. They were so beautiful and perfect.
– How Pualani Soap Hawaii was born –
Since the first time, I have been addicted making natural soap. As I created and used natural soap in daily basis, I realized that natural soap made such a big difference on our skin conditions. I started sharing handmade soap with friends and family, and received very positive feedbacks. I also realized commercial shampoo and soap bars contain so much harmful ingredients that could damage skin’s natural balance, as well as our natural environment. In 2013, I left my office manager position and started Pualani Soap Hawaii so that I can share what I do and natural soap that are good for all of us.
